Seven Questions:
I would rate this week as a 3. I had a great week at school, but I was very stressed completing edTPA at the beginning of the week, which left less time to plan my lessons. This week, I was pleasantly surprised by my principal coming to observe me! She wanted to give me the experience of having a principal observation, and I was very appreciative of this opportunity. From this experience, I learned that ensuring that you positively praise students that have previously been redirected is so important, and that this makes a huge difference in the motivation of the students.. My short term goal this coming week is to rearrange my WIN time to where it is more beneficial for all students, specifically those that fall in the middle. This aligns with my long term goal of allowing my students to learn to the best of their ability. This week, I could've spent more time preparing for my lessons each day. Since edTPA submission day was this week, a lot of my attention had been on perfecting my edTPA. The first logical step for next week is to begin working on my portfolio!
This week I analyzed my students comprehension tests in order to decide who needs to be placed in reading intervention next week.
One piece of advice I want to share with other student teachers is to always give your best, even when you're stressed and exhausted. You never know what your students have been through, and you may be the only one that makes them feel loved and cared for.

This week I have been working more on my website for my portfolio. I do not believe that my CE or I need extra support from my university supervisor at the moment.

Megan, look at you getting observed by your principal and doing so well! Yay! I can relate 100% to getting behind on lesson plans because of edTPA. Thank goodness that is behind us!
ReplyDeleteYEAH edTPA has been successfully submitted! Good job!
ReplyDeleteWhat was the idea you shared your idea about WIN with your grade level? You must share with all of us! This is wonderful that you shared at school.
We are going to create tubs based on all the literacy and math standards next week, and the following week we will begin assigning all the students a specific tub that they will work on. This will have options for them to choose from, but will all be based on the same topic. That way they are no longer all working on the same reading and math review worksheet, and are working on the topics they have struggled with.
DeleteMegan,
ReplyDeleteI'm so proud of everything you have accomplished thus far! You are doing great! I think it's awesome that your principal came in to observe you! My principal has asked to do the same thing for me and I'm excited for the opportunity! Was it more nerve-racking being observed by your principal than being observed regularly by our university supervisor? I'm curious to see how I feel when it happens for me!
Megan,
ReplyDeleteI understand how stressful it has been with everything. I loved reading your blog this week and seeing all you are accomplishing in the classroom. I know you did great things when the principal observed you. Keep up the hard work. Were on the last sretch!
Megan,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad your Principal got to observe you! One thing I've noticed from observations is that they love it when you give the students praise. Thank you for your advice, I believe all students go through something while they grow in this world, and you may be the only one they can turn to.
